In pics: Noida gets its own cyber crime investigation lab

The Uttar Pradesh director general of police, Javeed Ahmed, inaugurated the state-of-the-art Cyber Crime Investigation Centre, complete with a forensic laboratory, in Noida’s Sector 6 on Monday.
The city police will now have access to modern techniques to help them speed up investigations.
Ahmad said cyber frauds and hatemongers on social media will now be nabbed. “This lab will assure that people who are misusing social media and committing cyber frauds and hackings, will be brought to justice,” said Ahmad.
The DGP also said that he is in talks with officials concerned over demand of additional force for the satellite city. Many of Noida residents and the District Magistrate raised the issue of lack of personnel in the city.
The building for the centre has been constructed by the Noida Authority. Funds for the entire project, estimated to cost around Rs 1.25 crore, have been raised through public-private-partnership (PPP). For setting up the lab, the district police got financial help from private players, including a few corporate houses and some associations in the Gautam Budh Nagar district.
At present, police departments from a number of districts in Western UP have to send their investigation data to forensic laboratories in Agra, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Lucknow, delaying their investigations.
As of now, advanced forensics facilities are available only with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Pathankot attack: Modi asks Sharif to take ‘firm and immediate action’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday sought firm and immediate action by his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif against the terrorists responsible for the attack on Pathankot airbase on the basis of information provided by India.
Modi raised the issue when Sharif, currently on a visit to Sri Lanka, called him to discuss the terrorist attack. The two prime ministers spoke hours after a conversation between India’s national security adviser Ajit Doval and his counterpart Naseer Khan Janjua.
Sharif assured Modi that the Pakistan government “would take prompt and decisive action against the terrorists”, said a brief statement from the external affairs ministry spokesperson.
“Prime Minister Modi strongly emphasised the need for Pakistan to take firm and immediate action against the organisations and individuals responsible for and linked to the Pathankot terrorist attack. Specific and actionable information in this regard has been provided to Pakistan,” the statement said.
On Monday, Pakistan had said it is working on “leads” provided by India regarding the attack on Pathankot airbase, which has been blamed by Indian authorities on the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Reports have suggested that India has linked a planned meeting of the foreign secretaries on January 15 to action being taken against the JeM.
Sources said New Delhi had shared with Islamabad intercepts of calls made to Pakistan-based handlers by the terrorists who attacked the airbase. Details of the Pakistani numbers which the attackers called were also shared with Pakistani authorities.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office also said the two countries should continue with a “sustained dialogue process” and adopt a cooperative approach for tackling terrorism.
The US has said it expects Pakistan to bring to justice the elements responsible for the Pathankot attack without discriminating between terrorist groups during its operations.
The brazen assault left seven security personnel dead. At least six attackers were also killed.

Someone made a website where you can slap Aamir Khan

Challenge accepted Shiv Sena! Slapping Aamir Khan is now a piece of cake.
Amidst the controversy sparked by the Bollywood actor for his stand against the growing intolerance in India, the country’s right-wing Hindu party Shiv Sena announced a reward of INR0.1 million to anyone who slaps him.
While this real-life challenge seems nearly impossible, two Indians, Himanish Ashar and Dhvani Shah, dared to take up the risk virtually.
Shiv Sena offers INR0.1 million ‘reward’ to anyone who slaps Aamir Khan
The students of Miami Ad School, took a dig at Shiv Sena by creating a website slapaamir.com where you can literally try your hand as many times as you want.
The disclaimer on the website reads that it’s for “creative and humour purpose only and doesn’t represent any political views of the people involved.”
To be on the safe side, the message concluded with strong words: “Please be tolerant of our humour.”
Leaving India or staying? Aamir Khan breaks silence following criticism
According to the website, Aamir has received above 2 million slaps already and the number is growing with every passing minute.
We love how the actor’s bruised face changes after each slap:

Creative isn’t it? So what are you waiting for, try your hand right now!

Aamir Khan on intolerance: I am alarmed, my wife suggested moving out of India

NEW DELHI: Actor Aamir Khan on Monday joined the debate over "rising intolerance" in India, saying his wife Kiran Rao had asked if they should move out of the country, as she feared for the safety of their children in a climate of insecurity.

He was speaking at the Ramnath Goenka Awards function of The Indian Express Group. Khan said there was an increased sense of despondency over the past 6-8 months and that he was alarmed by it. "Important that those in power strongly condemn what's wrong," Khan said, backing writers and intellectuals who have returned their awards following the Dadri lynching and the murder of rationalists.

"Historians, scientists have had a view to express. Returning awards is one way of getting your point across," said the 50-year -old actor, who has been awarded the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. "Everyone has the right to protest," he said, adding that he supported any protest that was non-violent.

Last year, Khan's film 'PK', which took an irreverent look at organized religion, was a box-office blockbuster. It remains Bollywood's biggest grosser worldwide.

Speaking on the Paris attacks and its aftermath, Khan sought to delink acts of terror from religion. "I don't think any religion teaches killing of people," he said, pointing out that a number of Islamic organizations had started speaking up against ISIS, which claimed responsibility for the multiple attacks that killed 127 people.

On the censorship row over the recent Bond flick, the actor maintained that the censor board was just for certification but was behaving in an alarming way. "I hope that changes," he said, stressing that as an adult, one should be able to decide what one wanted to see.

Making light of the "almost interminable" kiss in box-office super hit Raja Hindustani (1996), he said the scene was not censored. "I feel lucky," he said.
